Department of Social Research, the University of Eastern Piedmont "Amedeo Avogadro", Alessandria

The Department of Social Research is a research unit established in 1999 at the University of Eastern Piedmont "Amedeo Avogadro". It is fully committed to empirical research, and its researchers are experts in both quantitative as well as qualitative research methods. The main research areas are: social mobility, social stratification and inequality; social work and social problems, youth and gender issues; human resources enhancement; governance and local ruling bodies for strategic decision making; strategic planning. It is member of ICPSR (International Consortium for Political and Social Research, University of Michigan).
The Department of Social Research will be conducting ISSP surveys with the collaboration of Doxa, a well know Italian private, independent research institute founded in 1960 and based in Milan. Doxa has a long-lasting history of collaboration with Italian and foreign universities, starting from the first survey on social mobility fielded in 1963 and headed by Joseph Lopreato (University of Connecticut). Its more recent collaborations are with the University of Milan (Statale, Bicocca and Cattolica), Pavia, Florence, Bologna, Trento, Urbino, Modena e Reggio Emilia, Molise.
